This is a rare gem of Christian thinking on depression. A few comments that resonated with me were
1. Spiritual symptoms aren’t necessarily caused by spiritual sins
2. Don’t rule out medication
3. Point to the objective truths of the Bible.
The objective truth bit is so powerful. In my long struggle with depression, my life boat has been knowing that my salvation – and each minute of my life for that matter – is dependent on what God does and who God is. And He doesn’t change, no matter what :).
I agree, Naomi! I hope this kind of thinking becomes less rare in the church.
