James 1: 2-4 have always been favorite verses of mine.
Also, Lamentations 3: 21-27 are frequently in mind.
Along with John 10:27-30; those bring continual comfort and rest.
Do you have a favorite passage? Or, if “favorite” isn’t the right word, how about one that is especially meaningful to you recently?
I found this humorous video about life verses.. enjoy.
And here are the actual texts, for my (and your) benefit:
James 1:2-4
Count it all joy, my brothers, [2] when you meet trials f of various kinds, 3 for you know that g the testing of your faith h produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be i perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Lamentations 3:21-27
But this I call to mind,
and k therefore I have hope:
22 l The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; [2]
l his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new m every morning;
n great is your faithfulness.
24 o “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
k “therefore I will hope in him.”
25 The Lord is good to those who p wait for him,
to the soul who seeks him.
26 q It is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.
27 r It is good for a man that he bear
the yoke s in his youth.
John 10:27-30
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 o I give them eternal life, and p they will never perish, and q no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, r who has given them to me, [1] s is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of t the Father’s hand. 30 u I and the Father are one.”
As of late, Romans 8 and 1 Corinthians 15.
Proverbs 3:5-6 While those are familiar verses to pretty much everyone they are powerful to me in every instance of everydayness! Every moment….Trust in Him….not just a little…..with ALL your heart…..don’t try to do it on your own… lean not on your OWN understanding ……….let Him be in control……notice Him, acknowledge Him, talk to HIM……..he will make my paths straight! There’s nothing I can do without Him – He is in control of it all!
I also enjoy the verses you chose from James! Another favorite is Isaiah 40:31 – Hope in the Lord and He will renew your strength!
Sometimes the really familiar ones can become forgotten, simply because they’re so familiar. It’s neat to see how that verse works in your heart, Stacy. Good reminder to keep letting God’s Word renew us!
First favorite verse and original life verse–Psalms 37:4, because I had always thought that God was not happy if I was happy and that if I was happy I couldn’t please God, so it was good to find out that God wants us to be happy and gives us our happiness.
A few other favorites:
Ephesians 3:20, which tells us God does more than we could ask or imagine.
1 Cor. 2:9, which tells us that we can’t even imagine what God has prepared for us.
Jer. 33:3 I’ve heard this described as God’s phone number, and I call on him a LOT.
2 Cor. 4:18, which tells us not to focus on the things we can see that are temporary, but on the things that we can’t see that will last forever.
Newer favorite verse and life verse, not replacing the first but standing with it: Galatians 2:20, the life I now live …I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.
My favorite verse is Psalm 34:1
(Psalms 34:1 KJV)
I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
I will praise the Lord for His goodness, love, mercy and grace for as long as I live.
My next favorite verse is Psalm 18:33
(Psalms 18:33 KJV)
He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.
